In our modern world, where many people spend much of their time indoors, it is essential to create landscapes that allow us to fully embrace the benefits of sunlight.
The Solar Chime is a sound installation that harnesses solar energy to pro- duce harmonious tones. Inspired by the mysterious water sounds of the suikinkutsu in caves, this self-rotating chime creates sounds only when the paths of individual chimes intersect by chance. The intensity of sunlight af- fects the occurrence of these sounds, creating a dynamic and ever-changing auditory experience.
While sunlight is a natural energy source beyond human control, integrating it seamlessly into our modern lives requires us to re-engage with the sun sin- cerely. By embracing the instability of natural elements and visually express- ing their energy, I hope to direct the viewer’s gaze towards the unknown pos- sibilities that lie beyond.
